Seems like Nokia who was so far not bothered with the craze of slim phones, has finally decided to change its mind. The giants have launched a strikingly slim phone, the Nokia 6300, that comes in an impressive package, and is loaded with some real good features as well.

Made from the combination of tough stainless steel covers and glossy, expensive black plastic, the Nokia 6300 feels quite solid to be held in hands. Its structure is slim 12mm deep, and unlike any other metallic phone, it does not really weigh you down.

In terms of usage, Nokia keeps it plain and simple. The handset runs on straightforward Series 40 user interface, which is easy to comprehend and navigate. The Menu can be viewed as a grid of icons, as tabs or as a list. Further, one can also re-arrange the Menu as per the order of preference. The Menu also makes things easy for the first time users. If one hovers over an icon for a long time, a pop-up window appears explaining what that icon is for. Usability also comes easy with the large, well-spaced keys.

The first doze of impressive imaging experience comes with its 320x240-pixel (QVGA) colour screen displays, with an ability to throw up to 16 million colours. Which means the texts, pictures and graphics come out clear, vivid and bright. And since the screen is 30mm wide by 40mm tall, readability is also taken fully care of. More imaging fun comes with its 2 MP camera, situated at the rear. The camera lets you take still photos and videos, and provides several options to customise and edit the shoots. But since it lacks auto focus, and flash, one would recommend the using of the camera for candid shots and not serious printouts. The Nokia 6300 comes with 7.8MB of internal memory, for storage, and one could also invest in higher capacity microSD cards. And for sharing the flicks, one is offered the versatility of Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, email and MMS.

The Nokia 6300 comes with a good music player. It supports MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H.263 and H.264 files. Also, included in the handset is a FM radio player. One can listen to music with the help of stereo Bluetooth headset, but listening to the FM would not be possible.

One of the hidden talents of Nokia 6300 is its ability to upgrade and synchronise data wirelessly. And this is made possible with the help of FOTA (firmware upgrade over the air). Other highlights of the handset includes many pre-installed apps, PIM features, tri-band, 3.5 hours of talk time, and 264 hours of standby.
